New Home? How to erase old remote controls from garage door memory

Is the remote control for your garage door lost or stolen?

Or, have you bought a new home and acquired a garage door opener with it?

There are situations that, for your safety and security, would warrant erasing the memory for your garage door opener and reprogramming it. Watch this brief tutorial from (Chamberlain/LiftMaster) to learn how.

(*For complete instructions, consult your owner’s manual.)

We’ve listed the steps below for quick reference:

  1. Locate the Learn button on the back or side panel of the garage door opener.
  2. To erase the memory, press and hold the Learn button (approximately 6 seconds) until the LED light goes out.
  3. This will erase ALL remote control and keyless entry codes from the garage door opener memory.
